There is a kid I know, and his last name is Cortese. Now what I wanna know is if it's pronounced like Cortez, or like, Cor-tez-ay, or Cor-teaze. I have no idea - help me, please? =]
I believe the last name is italian. If you know it's not, then what is it?
How would you pronounce the last name Cortese?
It's Italian, and in Italian it's pronounced kor-TAY-zay. But Italo-Americans would more likely pronounce it kor-TEEZ.
Reply:Vowels:
o: like in english

so "kor-TA(Y)-za(y)"

Reply:It's Italian?

That's my last name!
ReplyDeleteAfter I got married a little old Italian man used to correct me everytime that I said it. He would roll his "r" and say:
"cor-TAY-say"
He told me that it meant "courtesy" in Italian.
