My husband wants to change his last name from his birth fathers to his moms maiden name.Me and are kids would have to change them too.
How much does it cost to legal change a last name in the state of texas?
You might be able to go on line and pick up the forms to do this and save some fees in the process. I remember a long time ago (over 10 years) in Texas you could do it for $50, but I believe the last price I heard of was closer to $250.00. You may want to call your county clerk and see if she can point you in the right direction...
I can tell you a couple of people I know just started using their preferred name, changed it on all their paperwork, and so far have got away with it. They told me that as it became an established name it would be considered legitimate. I don't know if I would take that chance, though, so it's better to be sure. Good luck.
