Can you trace the last name of a person from a phone number?

Someone has been harassing a friend of mine and we have their landline number. He claims to be her half-brother and she doesn't have one. It is really starting to freak her out, he keeps calling, and she is wondering if it is someone from her past. Is there anyway online for free to check possibly just the last name of a landline number?

Reply:All the answers below and above are assuming many things;

i. that the person has a land line in his or her real name with real ss number that the phone company would be using to open the acct.

2. that he or she is not on a cell phone

and

3. That he or she is in an area that is serviced by the collectors of that info, like the free 411 and what not.\

I did a google on myself, and the white pages and the free 411, and NOPE not a single one of me. Not one.

- I use my real name and real ss number to set up my phone acct, but nope.... nothing.

My suggestion is that, if you're on a commercial company like AT/T use *57 to trace the calls. Its a small fee, like 5 bucks per call/ but they trace the last number coming. When the call comes in, you hang up and imm hit *57. f you go for a legal complaint and take it to court/with charges, they will release the name to police, then the courts; not to you.

Another thing is called a TRAP, that collects ALL incoming phone calls, regardless if you press *57 or not, but its set up for a certain amount of time, just not a one time/call thing;

and traps them in the case file, then you figure out who's doing this. It too takes a court case and file charges to find out,through the courts, what the name is.

But how do you know FOR SURE there is no half sibling?
Reply:yes..just got to google.com and type in the phone number including the area code, if you are lucky and they are listed in the phone book then his name will come up along with his address and directions to his house....kinda stalker-like but it is helpful in these kind of situations
Reply:http://www.unitedsleuths.com/reverse-pho... is a free tool which searches all the free resources online such as Google and Whitepages.

If it can't find any free information then it shows you the best place to find the information.
Reply:Try, namesandnumbers.com

If it's a cell phone or unlisted number I don't think it will be in the book.

You can go to the cops with this problem.
Reply:You can Google the phone # or try this reverse phone lookup site http://www.whitepages.com/reverse-lookup... However, you won't be able to locate it if his phone # is unlisted or it's a cell #.
