How do change my childs last name to the name of my new husband? I do not want a full adoption.?

My exhusband is still in the picture but the kids want the last name of my new husband. He is a much more involved father. My exhusband pays no child support.

Well, I don't know what state you live in, but in Wisconsin, you may change you child's name up until 1 year old. After that, you need consent from the biological father to do that. And if still, no luck there, the child may change his/her name on their own at age 11. It's another whole petition to the court thing. Good Luck!
Reply:you can go to social security office to start it only cost about 20 bucks.then the court house not much to it really
Reply:All you have to do is fill out a name change form at the county courthouse. It's pretty easy. The fee varies by state, though.

You may want to think about changing your children's names to be your own last name, just in case this guy doesn't stick around. If you changed your name to the new husban'ds name, though, that's fine.

Reply:It depends on where you live...In Canada all you need is 100 dollars and send it to the office of the registrar general with the appropriate form and you can change your name or your kid's name to anything you want. You will have to notify your ex and/or get his permission if he has joint custody but if you have sole custody-that is all it would take.
Reply:If the real father is on the birth certificate he has to sign a paper saying it's ok. If not contact the vital statistics office where you live and they will send you the paperwork. It is a page to fill out and have notorized. It's pretty simple.
