How many fans would Dale Jr have if his last name was not Earnhardt?

Don't get me wrong.I think he is one of the most respectable drivers in NASCAR.He respects NASCAR's past drivers and he'll admit when he causes an accident.

How many fans would Dale Jr have if his last name was not Earnhardt?
I really think that Jr wouldn't have many fan's if it wasn't for his last name ,just as he wouldn't have many fan's if it wasn't for his sponsor either . He is a sub par driver
Reply:Thanks for the 10 point's . Guess we will find out just how many true fan's Jr without Bud and a team mate with a driver that the majority of Jr fan's despise. Wonder how many fan's are bandwagon jumpers and like him just because everyone else does?

I don't "hate" Jr I just don't pull for him Report Abuse

Reply:If the family name really determined "popularity" then it seems to me that any driver named "Petty" would be near the top of the list. After all, Richard "The King" Petty was very popular in his day. Certainly didn't rub off on his son or grandsons, did it? Report Abuse

Reply:Give him Kudos he has taken less than mediocre talent and a famous last name and brokered a lucrative contract. Had his name not been Earnhardt he would have never gotten into Busch much less NASCAR. The only pit he would be in is the local Jiffy lube! Report Abuse

Reply:Dale, Jr. is one heck of a driver and sure his last name has give him some help but his Dad is not the one in the seat of the #8 car driving it, so give Dale,Jr. credit where credit is deserved, he's good and No one can deny him of that.

You go Junebug.
Reply:still a good amount of fans. His overall personality and

and persona speaks for it self.
Reply:The same number of fans as say, Kenseth, Kurt Busch, Tony Stewart. They all have about the same number of wins as Jr, but they also have champioships. So maybe they'd be even more popular than Jr. He's an average driver, without the last name, he is nothing. Everyone just seems so blinded over his daddy, last name, sponsor.
Reply:The question is, would he even be in Cup without his father? Without having good equipment given to him all his life, would he even have been able to get where he's at now?
Reply:Not many, as he is just an average driver at best.
Reply:I would guess he wouldn't even be in racing. Uh, his father WAS racing along with the King #43.
Reply:about an eighth of what he has now...but some of it is talent...you haven't seen people go berserk over Kerry Earnhardt but you would if he improved drastically
Reply:I'd still be one of his fans, but there probably wouldn't be as many fans if he weren't an Earnhardt.
Reply:He would still have a lot of fans, I just don't think that there would be the "JR Nation" that there is today. I like Kyle Petty alot, never was that crazy about the "King". I like Carl Edwards and Jamie McMurray (both Missouri boys), I am from MO however Rusty Wallace could pound sand for all I care. See, there are connections and not.
Reply:Without his name fans wouldn't even know him. He would be working in a McDonald's Drive - Thru and watching NA$CAR like everyone else.
Reply:he'd be just another mid pack driver
Reply:I think that he would have no fans, because no one would have ever heard of him.
Reply:He'd be known as a nice decent driver like Kasey, Mears, Hamlin and some of the others, but as for being considered a "star" or "talent" he'd have nowhere near the publicity and fans he has today.
Reply:He wouldn't have as many as he does now. He is a great driver, young and good looking so i wouldn't count every fan out! I'm sure the majority would be the female nascar fans!

Go Jeff Burton!!!!!
Reply:I think he'd be just as popular. Give fans some credit, if he was a jerk or something he'd lose popularity regardless of his name.

He is a good driver, he seems to be as much of a likeable guy as his dad was, so why not like him?

(I say this without really having a favorite NASCAR driver... I like it, but it's not my number one thing).
