How do I eliminate my last name from appearing to others?

I do not want my last name to be available to anyone. Especially on the IM Messenger. How do I ensure that others do not see my full name?

if you're after quick fix..


login to Yahoo! Messenger


click on Messenger


select My Contact Details


at the top is Name: followed by


First (Name)


Last (Name)


Nickname





to stop Yahoo! Messenger accessing the default details stored in your Yahoo! Account information, ALL 3 fields should be complete if you want to your personal details keep off Yahoo! Messenger, once you have entered the information you want available, click Apply, click OK.


If you want your first name showing, just fill in the Last name field and leave the first name blank or manually enter your first name.





if you want to make sure your default details are never sent out then you need to edit your account information (the form you filled out when you signed up for your yahoo id)

Once there...


1.Ignore the first instance of your Names, scroll down the page until you see Address / Contact Information, click Edit...


2. now at the top of the page should be Your Name, edit both fields


3. hit Finished, if prompted, then confirm your password, you will be redirected back to your Yahoo! Account Information page where you can see the changes, if you're happy with the results, click Finish again, then exit out of your browser and log back into Yahoo! Messenger.





to change the details ppl have if you are already on their friends list they will need to delete you from their friends list AND address book and then re-add you, or you can sent them your Contact Details

please be aware the above will not impact on ppl who already have you on their friends list / address book, they will need to delete you from both then re-add you to remove your name etc, or you could try sending them your contact details via Yahoo Messenger

Reply:when u let someone add u ull be given an option something like 'let him add me as_____'...by default its ure name that appears..if u dont want ure name there u can delete it from the space and enter the name of ure choice or leave it blank in which case ure name appears to the other person as ure ID
