It is Italian.
If your not sure don't answer.
I need a sold answer.
How do you pronounce the last name Posillipo?
The first 'o' is difficult to describe - it's an o but there's a not pronounced short 'h' on the end as it's combined with the s of the second syllable plus a hair of hesitation before the second syllable. Po-see lee' eepo.
Sorry - when I replied, it was 4:00am and I see I left out a vowel-sound between the double ll and i so have corrected it. The ee following the double L is pronounced more quickly than the ee at the beginning of the name (Po-see). Gadz .. it's very difficult to explain as I sit here saying it but, just a moment ago, found the audio Italian on the about.com website. I've found it easier to 'get' the rhythm/pronounciation of another language when I close my eyes while listening. The few months (5) I spent in Italy was in Milan - quite a distance from the Posillipo area. These months of sporadic Italian lessons equipped me with enough skills to get by - it's a beautiful language.
